Help with Perch: Posture Coach
Need a hand? Email brandonflips@gmail.com and we'll get back to you. We read every message. The answers below cover the most common questions.
Perch works with an iPhone and a pair of AirPods that have built-in motion sensors — such as AirPods Pro, AirPods (3rd generation) or later, and AirPods Max. It reads head-motion from your AirPods to detect posture, so those sensors are required for live coaching. You can preview how it works on iPhone alone using the built-in "See how it works" demo.
Open the iPhone Settings app, go to Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness, and turn on the switch for Perch (make sure "Fitness Tracking" at the top is also on). Perch also has a shortcut to this screen if you ever land on the "Turn on Motion access" page inside the app.
Automatic start is an optional feature you set up once. In Perch, open Settings → Auto-start when AirPods connect and follow the short guide to create a personal Shortcuts automation. Until that's set up, you can start coaching manually from the app's home screen. Perch works fully either way.
Everything is adjustable in Settings:
Subscriptions are handled by Apple. To view, change, or cancel your plan, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or tap Manage subscription in Perch's Settings. If you were charged after a free trial, the trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
If you've subscribed before (for example on another device or after reinstalling), tap Restore on the subscription screen to re-activate your access. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe.
All posture processing happens on your device, and Perch collects no personal data. For the full details, see our Privacy Policy.
